LGL Local Materials Development
Research and development into economical and sustainable building
techniques, utilising locally available skills and materials. This project
used locally available vegetation for non-structural building components,
including walls, ceilings and floor coverings, and developed cement
stabilised clay pavers as an alternative to a concrete slab.
The project encourages sustainable infrastructure and business development by drawing on local skills and materials and provides a building technology that, in future, is independent of outside technical or financial assistance.
