Narrative description of Project:
As part of the World Bank-funded development of Kokopo, to replace Rabaul as East New Britain's provincial capital. The urban design of the commercial centre involved extensive consideration of the tropical environment, the fact that 90% of the urban population is pedestrian, and public workshops to get a variety of local views. From initial patterns, we proceed to detailed urban design, and then documentation for construction.

Description of actual services provided by your staff within the assignment:
Extensive consultation with proposed key stakeholders. Presentation of amendments to the Physical Planning Board. Design and documentation of detailed architectural, landscape and engineering design including the establishment of private development guidelines and public domain design.
Design and documentation of the urban environment for the new commercial district of Kokopo, Provincial capital of East New Britain. This involved a extensive series of workshops and stakeholder consultation process, reporting and architectural design services to incorporate wide ranging inputs received from the community. Assai engaged Arup, Port Moresby to undertake structural and civil engineering services
