David Week, Ph.D is the Managing Director of Assaí. For 25 years, David has focussed on all aspects of culturally appropriate infrastructure, using a set of methodologies developed to deliver 'culture drive projects' [CDP]. He has successfully brought CDP methodologies to the design and management of overseas aid projects, the planning and design of facilities for Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander communities, the design of corporate workplaces based on organisational culture, and regional architecture in a dozen countries.
A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and Sydney University, David is a dual national (USA and Australia). He has written three books; The Culture Driven Workplace, Building Hotels in Papua New Guinea, and Grass Roots Guesthouses. David has also delivered keynote speeches at international conferences, and lectured at universities throughout Australia and in Vietnam, Papua New Guinea and in the US. His work has received seven major awards, including a 1999 RAIA International Award and a 2001 RAPI Award for Excellence in Planning.
Kirsten McDonald is committed to the provision of culturally appropriate built environments. She joined Assaí in 2001 and manages the Strategic Workplaces and Community Development practices. Kirsten has degrees in both interior design from RMIT, Melbourne and in international development from the University of London. Kirsten is experienced in all facets of the design process from the development of the brief, through to the design and project management of the construction of interior environments.
Kirsten worked previously at DEGW, where she was Senior Strategic Consultant on major projects for Bangkok Bank, Sydney Water, and Deacons Lawyers. Prior to that, she had extensive office design and project management experience in Singapore, Thailand and Melbourne.
Richard Jurdeczka is an Engineer and Project Manager who has worked at Assaí since 1995. During his 30 year career, Richard has been involved in all aspects of design, multi-engineering disciplines, planning, feasibility studies, technical audits, evaluations, recruitment, purchasing, quality assurance, project management, construction management, training, lecturing, traffic and warehousing, construction, installation and commissioning.
Richard has exercised management control over complex projects up to $90 million. His experience ranges from complex industrial and commercial projects in Australia, to remote overseas development projects in Papua New Guinea, South East Asia, the Pacific, and East Timor. These have included projects which have required him to re-plan and re-define jobs as well as to revise supervision techniques so as to adapt to different social, economic and cultural systems. Peter Gibbs is both a share holder and non-executive director of Assaí. With more than 20 years of multi-national business leadership experience Peter's Assaí interests strategically influence the organisation's direction and growth. Formal business management training and practical large-scale business development experience offers Assaí management a regular balanced review of business plans, initiatives and progress. Peter's primary objective is to assist the company grow and develop employing best practice methodology without compromising the respected culturally driven & practical value proposition we offer our customers today. |
